The most usual symbol for the Holy Spirit is the descending dove. Matt 13:16-17.

In this case the dove is surrounded by an Aureole. This is a halo that surrounds the entire body. This halo is used only with the Trinity and with Mary when she is holding the Christ Child.

The aureole is a sign of supreme power, suthority and onmipotence.
