Thank you once again from those who will benefit for your support of the
CROP Walk 2007. The walkers from First Presbyterian placed third in the
amount of money raised with an amazing total of $2866.00. CONGRATULATIONS
and THANK YOU!!!
Another third place plaque was presented to First Presbyterian
Church for having 26 walkers.
The overall total stands at $26,000.00. Approximately
$6,500 will be returned to the Rome Community.
There were approximately 1,000 lbs of
non-perishable food items brought in by the walkers and the "Bring your Can to Work Day"
effort. Many of the schools participated as well as several businesses. That was the
most food ever received.
The poster contest revealed many new artists both in the schools
as well as churches and other organizations. The numbers were staggering. There were 362
posters with 25 winners. The winning posters are on display at Jervis Library. Maegan Fish
and Tyriana Jones were two of the winners. All the posters were soooooo good. It was a very
difficult task to try and choose winners. They were all winners.
There were between 110 and
120 students, teachers, youth group leaders, adults, and families that attended the awards
ceremony. This is one of the best parts of the CROP Walk. It was very inspiring to have all
this participation. Keith Butters accepted the plaques for First Presbyterian Church and Liz
Reyes received several door prizes for raising $305.00. What an effort.
