The annual Crop Walk helps
to feed millions of starving people across the globe each year. Your
community and country ask for your help to better the world for
everyone. Please support us in our quest to help all those in need in
various regions of the world.

Committee Members: |
There was a very active group of
committee members who present new ideas, raise money through fund
raisers, assume different responsibilities, and continue to help
organize and stimulate the walk. |
Honorary Chairperson: |
Mrs. Darlene Burns accepted the
challenge to be the Honorary Chairwoman for the 2008 CROP Walk. She
exceeded all expectations. |

Poster Contest: |
There were between 200 and 300 posters.
Choosing winners continues to be more and more difficult. |
Corporate Giving: |
There was a new level of giving presented
to the Rome businesses. Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
- Platinum(4) level was at least $500.00. The logo was placed on the
banner, t-shirt, ad, and listed on web-site,
- Gold(6) level was $250.00 and had their
logo placed on t-shirt, an ad in flyer, and name on web-site.
- Silver(10) level was $100.00 and had a 1" by 4" ad in the
flyer.
- Bronze(6) level was $50.00 and had a 1" by 2" ad in the
flyer.
This funding generated more new businesses |
"Bring Your Can to Work Day": |
This generated approximately 1700lbs of
food which was taken to the Rome Area Food Coalition located at
Catholic Charities. The boxes of food items filled their conference
room. Many schools and businesses participated. There were also
many non-perishable food items brought in on the day of the walk.
This was very successful and all the food will stay in the Rome
Area. |
T-shirts: |
$250.00 was donated by Engelbert's, Rome
Strip Steel,Con Med, Rome Sentinel, Hubbard Tool and Die, Rome
Savings Bank, and The Savoy Restaurant. |
Business Ads: |
There were 28 ads in the CROP Walk
Brochure. There were 84 businesses that gave food, money, or in kind
services. |
Food: |
25 pizzas, 125 pieces of Subs, Apples,
Bananas, 25 boxes of cookies, 196 pieces of tomatoe pie, bottle water
and orange drink. |
Opening ceremonies: |
Mark Richards from Regent Broadcasting
helped entertain the walkers with music from the radio station, the
RFA Jazz Ensemble presented several upbeat tunes, and the ROTC Honor
Guard presented the colors while Dona Occhipinti sang the National
Anthem. |
Walkers: |
Over 500 walkers walked to the rhythm of
the RFA Marching Band. |
Door Prizes: |
Skippy organized door prizes from
everyone to take one home as a thank you for walking. |
Money: |
The total for the CROP Walk will be
The support of this community leaves me speechless.
Miracles do happen if we let them. The committee, businesses,
organizations, the many churches, schools, youth, city hall, and many
individuals have all come together to benefit those who are challenge
each day for a morsel of food or a clean drink of water. You have
blessed many because you are a caring people and caring community.
