- Albert Soper was the eldest son of Philander and Jerusha Martin Soper. He was born in Rome in September of 1812. In 1836 he married Esther Farquharson. They had seven children two of whom died in infancy. After a business failur in Rome in 1857 he moved his family to Chicago, founded a lumber business and became very successful.
