Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet.

The Alpha and Omega stand for Jesus, "the first and the last, the beginning and the end" (Rev.22:13), "the same yesterday and today and forever" (Heb 13:8). The symbol is most clear when there is something to complete the visible connection between the letters and Christ.
